Liss leaned across the passenger seat to open the door. Philip hesitated. It wasn’t his first time in a Weimar car, but it was certainly the first time that he would willingly climb into one.

That line makes me a little more comfortable about Philip but I'm convinced that there is more going on than meets the eye.

This installation is mostly description but it's some of the best in the story, I think. This: "Vertigo wasn't known for its cars, since the citizens travelled by carriage or tram. Only Weimar used cars" is really revealing of the whole world. I like it.
